Free Ways to Identify a Profitable Market Niche
I began my first Internet business, I have learned a simple rule of a mentor at the time:
1) Find a lot of hunger.
2) Find out what they eat.
3) Feed them
I would be an additional step 2-3:
; 2.a) Validate it
Easy to say, but what exactly does it mean ..?
Let's assume that you already have what you need for the industry.
Within this industry you need a niche, you know. Here are some steps you can follow:
1) Find a lot of hunger.
This refers to the search for a niche market, and here are some ways to do this.
1.a) Join forums:
There are thousands of online forums, which pretty much any subject you can think. Go to Google and not the search for forums related to the industry, you have picked up.
You need some time assessment forums, which are worth – there are thousands of online forums, but only a minority of them will be worth your time and effort.
you are dealing with a large, active membership, if a reasonable proportion of the contributions have a lot of answers, in which rules of conduct for Forum are polite, but firm and enforced, if the current activity.
If you find, and a good forum, you need to establishing credibility and trust for themselves – what you can do by working in the community with valuable information.
1.b) off-line niche hunting:
Like so many aspects of running an online business – do not apply to you online activities and resources. Go off-line. And that goes for the market research.
bookstores are a good way to profitable market niches: If there is an offline magazine for a niche you're interested, the likelihood is that it is a potentially profitable niche.
2) Find out what they want to eat:
How to get to know the forum, you will begin to see , a thread of frequently asked questions. For example – I am a member of the Warrior Forum and one of the questions that always comes back, is about the members on the best free autoresponder service.
This was so obvious that people are an area new to online marketing were interested that they invited me to a recent blog entry.
Another way to determine what people are looking for is to check the most searched-for items on eBay.
eBay is the largest online marketplace and the people who search on eBay are people who are actively in search of something – they are ready to buy.
a good starting point for finding out what people are searching for on eBay, this index of the eBay Search:
If you notice something that the search for a regular on eBay or from the forums, or from off-line research, you can go to the next step:
2.a) Validate it:
Here is a way to create a niche that is interesting:
Go to Google and enter a search query for your term. See how many results. This is the number of pages that Google believes a good answer to your search term – possibly your competition.
Next you should use the number of queries per month for your keyword.
There are several applications that will give you these two answers, and give money to the results of searches, competition, etc.
But can you look at the money, by using the search results on Google and Yahoo, and using the Google AdWords Keyword Tool: https: / / adwords.google.com / select / KeywordToolExternal (free) for an indication of the number of queries per month.
Yahoo also a publicly available keyword tool, Overture Keyword Selector Tool, but it seems to have been offline for the time.
I understand that Yahoo is upgrading it so it would be worthwhile for them at regular intervals, as the old version has more functionality and gives you more granular results Adwords – so it was more helpful.
Anyway – you are looking for a high number of searches and a small number of results. This would mean that there is a great interest in the niche (high number of requests) and it is not very competitive (low number of results).
But beware: a small number of results could also indicate that the niche is not profitable!
So, as you find out if the niche is profitable?
Check the sponsored results on the right side of search results pages.
Too little attention to the fact that the niche is not profitable, and many would suggest that there is too much competition. I
between 1-3 pages (11-30 ads) of the Sponsored Results. For me this would be a niche that may not be profitable and competitive.
You'll need to monitor these ads for some time. If the corner is no longer viable, the majority of the ads will not displaid for long. If they are still displaid after 10-20 days, the niche is potentially more profitable!
3) Feed them
Have you found what your starving quantity wants to eat, and to validate that it is a potentially profitable niche, you need to bring it to them – this is the easiest step of all.
You can use either your own product or identify an affiliate product that meets the requirements you have identified, and direct your marketing campaign.
So to summarize:
1) Find a starving Quantity: to know what industry you focus and adherence to relevant forums, research or research eBay booksellers around your niche.
2) Find out what they want to eat: in the forums and look out for issues that are often looking for very targeted search on eBay or magazines focused on a small niche in your market.
2.a) Confirm your niche: research of the natural search result pages and books, research results and sponsored search for an online magazine from the corner.
3) Feed it to them: Develop your product or products you can find a partner, and develop your marketing campaign.
